* = Products were gifted to me for review purposes. All opinions and images are 100% my own!

Hello people of the internet! A few weeks ago a company called Freda reached out to me. They wanted to know if I wanted to review their *period subscription box. Of course, I said yes! If you didn't know, I love talking about all things periods. This year I want to use my platform to talk more about things like this. So working with Freda for this post was a no-brainer!

A little bit about Freda

Freda was created after their founder was inspired after seeing refugees cross European borders. Period products aren't included in the hygiene kits provided by the UN and relief organisations.

"Societal taboos and stigma have caused the menstrual needs of women to be overlooked, in refugee camps and in all public spaces."

Upon looking into it further, she became more frustrated with not only the lack of access but how period products tend to be made.

Their products contain zero chemicals. And, their aim is to make sure your comfort and protection aren't compromised. Their tampons are 100% organic cotton, biodegradable, hypoallergenic, and free from synthetic fibres that are normally found in tampons. And, their pads are made with 100% eco-friendly and renewable materials.

Freda offers tampons, day pads, night pads, and panty liners. For a one-off purchase of any of the products its £8 but if you sign up for a monthly subscription it's £6.99. All of their prices are inclusive of the items you're purchasing, a giveback and UK shipping!

One of my favourite things about Freda as a company is their social purpose mission. Freda believes that access to period products is a basic human right. They have partnered with Bloody Good Period, The Red Box Project, and A Bloody Good Cause to help give back. They aim to help raise awareness around period poverty and girls' rights to education by donating a percentage of their profits to initiatives addressing these issues.

You can also donate period products to the charity of your choice through their website!

"1 in 10 girls can't afford to buy menstrual products according to Plan International UK.

Over 137,700 children in the UK have missed school because of period poverty.

68% said they felt less able to pay attention in class at school or college while menstruating.

Menstrual products cost more than £18,000, in a women’s life (£13 every month).

40% of girls in the UK have used toilet roll because they couldn’t afford menstrual products.

A survey of more than 1,000 girls found nearly half were embarrassed by their period and many were afraid to ask for help because of the stigma." - via Free Periods

Personally, I went with their night pads. I have a pretty heavy period and I always buy night-time pads anyways. I prefer them for absorption and protection from leaks.

I was delighted when I first opened up one of the pads and it had wings. I've had a few other experiences with more organic brands and they don't have wings on them or they aren't as sticky. That was definitely not the case with these.  Once I placed the pad down it stayed put. The only real difference between these and my normal pads is these are a bit thicker. But, it's wasn't an issue. I never found them uncomfortable or "like a diaper" ya know? The absorbancy was the exact same and I didn't notice any leaks. They're a winner for me!

I really love Freda! As I said in my in my disclaimer, all of the opinions are my own and I was gifted these products too. So, I'm not being paid to chat about this stuff with you all. The average UK person ( This is an inclusive space everyone! Not just women have periods. ) spends £13 a month on period products. If you start a subscription with Freda it's only £6.99 a month which is nearly half! And, you know that you're getting chemical free and safe products while giving back to people in need.
