Urban Decay Heavy Metals Holiday Palette First Impressions & Swatches

Hello people of the internet! A little while back I was lucky enough to be sent the brand new *Urban Decay Heavy Metals Holiday Palette! Since matte eyeshadows are pretty much all the rage and have been for what feels like forever, this palette is a breath of fresh air. It's packed full of 20 glitter eyeshadows in a pretty fantastic range of colors, if I do say so myself!

First Impressions

* I haven't had a chance to actually wear/play with the shadows aside from swatching them. That's why this a first impression post*

I can't even begin to tell you guys how excited I was to finally swatch this palette. I was so busy with work when it arrived and being a total blogger, I refused to swatch it until I could get photos.

Each shadow is absolutely stunning in it's own way. Some just have micro glitter that matches the color of the shadow, some are iridescent, and some have a shift to them. All of my swatches are without any primer or base, and they're all applied dry with my finger.

I was a bit worried that some of them might feel scratchy because of all of the glitter in them. But, each shadow was so beautifully smooth. And, oh my god were they pigmented. I was so impressed with the Amp, Punk Rock, Metalhead, Afterparty, and Starfire. There were really only two that I was disappointed in: Mullet and Spandex.

Mullet is a muted green shade. I don't think it comes across as really green at all. It kind of reminds me of a swamp. Spandex is the darker purple shade. It has a black-ish base to it. Which I think shows more than the purple. Which most shades that have a black base tend to.

Overall, I'm very impressed. I think it's a fantastic palette and would make a perfect gift. Especially if you know someone like me who tends to only own matte eyeshadow palettes.

  1. I have been using this palette for quite a long time and this is one of my most favorite palettes. This is so pigmented and color pay off is good. Also, the quality of this palette is awesome. I heard about this while doing my makeup lesson from Lina. I will prefer get makeup lesson from Lina Cameron. She is really talented and trains best in my town. I am really glad to choose her as my trainer. She helped me a lot and I learned a lot from her. <3
