Who Cares About Kylie Jenner's Baby

Hello people of the internet! In case you've been living under a damn rock for the past nine months: Kylie Jenner was secretly pregnant and had a baby. Late Sunday night on February 4th she finally broke her silence and announced the birth of her first child. Now, I bet you're thinking, who actually cares?

Well, my answer is; I care. I've been following this story since the rumours broke months upon months ago. I've read every article, looked for any clues, etc. I really care. I'm not being ironic. I've enjoyed this whole media storm.

And guess what? So have other people! Who would have guessed? One of the most followed people on the in the world has people caring what's going on in their life. Shocking, I know.

Why am I writing this post? Well, when I read Kylie Jenner's announcement I was actually really excited. I was one of those people who spent a portion of their Christmas Day hoping we would get a glimpse of Kylie's baby bump in the Kardashian Christmas card series. Or, that she would announce she was actually Kim's surrogate. I felt invested.

Obviously, this isn't everyone's cup of tea. A lot of people took to Twitter to share how little the gave shit about what was happening. That's fair enough. But usually, this tends to turn into a who is better than who argument on the internet.

Following this story and this huge event in a celeb's life hasn't hurt anyone. It doesn't make me a shit/stupid person. We all have interests. You might be big into sports. I'm not! And, guess what? I'm not going to sit here and tell you your interest is stupid and that you're wasting your time. Neither of us is better than the other for liking different things.

I think this is the perfect example of how we should all act about people's interests. I've spent a huge part of my life afraid to talk about shows, music, games etc that I like. Mainly because people tend to complain if you like certain things or suddenly it becomes a competition of who knows more. Either way, I've been left feeling ashamed of a lot of shows that I like.

I have interests in things you might not like. You might have interests in things that I probably don't care about. At the end of the day, neither of us are hurting anyone, we're all enjoying something and sharing that experience online. It's not a competition. One of us isn't a better, more intellectual, more interesting or important than the other.

Let's just leave it at that.

Let's be friends!

  1. I care too. I was more impressed with her concern with the stress and how being so public would affect her baby. This definitely is unusual for this family, and for that I give her HUGE credit. I didn't expect it and it was a very nice surprise. I'm sure dealing with everything that goes with being so out there and famous must be difficult. Even money can't always buy privacy, and I'm super thrilled the family stayed on her side and shielded her as much as they possibly could. It says a LOT about how they view each other and how important eachother's wishes are. There are a lot of negative comments saying stuff like "well she is capitalizing now, but what new mother wouldn't? I know with both my two I plastered my social media with them because, frankly, no matter how old you are, a new addition is something to be happy about. I eventually removed most because of privacy fears, but I truly can see what and why she's so happy now. I loved your perspective and that you're willing to write about such a high profile event and family. Thank you for allowing me the chance to write out what I personally feel.

  2. I completely agree with you. Personally, I don't care one bit about any of the Jenner/Kardashian clan, but actually I think it's nice that so many people do. I hate when people dump on other people's joy. Like the "shut up about Christmas already" crowd. So sue us for feeling happy about a thing? If we didn't we'd be called grumpy anyway.
Enjoy whatever you like. As long as it's not hurting anyone why should anyone care? Tbh, I think more people cared about Kylie's baby than not, judging by how hard it trended! Maybe I'm the odd one out on this one :)
