My Skincare Routine

Hello people of the internet! I showed off my skincare routine on snapchat recently. That is probably the most screenshots I've ever gotten. I figured I should just do a whole post about it! I have very oily skin. That being said, what works for me might not work for you. It's taken me a long time to put together this routine. I hope it's helpful!

My Skincare routine

Basics

Boots Simply Sensitive Cleansing Gel - I picked this up after I had a facial at the Essence Spa. The lady who did my facial told me I needed to stop using cream cleansers. Since my skin is oily already, it doesn't absorb them properly. I absolutely love it. It's just a rub in - wash off kind of thing. Plus, it takes off your makeup!

*Declare Cleansing Milk - Even though I'm not supposed to use cream cleansers I love this for taking off my eye makeup. I love something that will just take off all of my eye makeup in one go and This stuff does it.

*Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish - I try to use this only when I don't have my other basic cleansers. It came with a muslin cloth. If you're looking for something to help with exfoliating without those horrible little microbeads this is great!

My Skincare Routine

Mask & Exfoliator

*First Aid Beauty Skin Rescue Deep Cleanser - Oddly enough this is also a gel! It says you can use it twice daily but, I like to save it for the days I exfoliate my face. It's great for unclogging pores and just getting rid of excess nastiness.

Lush Coalface Cleanser - Unfortunately, I couldn't grab a picture of this. It's a little black block of soap with pieces of powdered charcoal. Those little pieces are great for exfoliating! I use that about twice a week. When I over exfoliate my skin tries to make up for "missing" oil by producing more. Which if you already have oily skin is no fun!

Others

Boots Botanics Cleansing Toner All Bright - This is the newest addition to my skincare routine. From what I can tell, it's great! I find some toners can be really drying. I've haven't had that "tightening" feeling on my skin after using this which is great.

*The Body Shop Oils Of Life Facial Oil - I'm not going to lie, I was absolutely terrified to use this! I mean... why would I put oil on my already oily skin? Turns out this stuff just works with my skin. I squeeze about two drops onto my finger tips and then I rub it between my hands and dab onto my face and neck!

*Nip + Fab Dark Spot Fix Serum - This helps reduce age spots, brightens the skin, and softens your skin. I absolutely love it. It makes my skin feel amazing. It also smells fantastic!

*No7 Early Defense Eye Cream - Now, I'm not trying to look 10 years younger (I don't need to look 11 years old) but, I've already noticed some slight - maybe just in my head - wrinkles by my eyes. So why not just be proactive and use a nice soothing eye cream at night!

Lush Grease Lightning Spot Treatment - I might have saved the best for last. All you do with this is dab it onto a spot and leave it. I like to to put it on before bed and wash it off in the morning. It has witch hazel and tea tree oil in it and they just suck the life off of offending spots!

Wow! That is a long post. I didn't actually realize how much stuff I use for my skin until I was taking pictures for this post! Thankfully, I'm finally learning how to properly take care of my skin. I've had the least amount of non-hormonal (literally nothing I can do about those) spots in years since switching to gel cleansers!

  1. I was just thinking through my skincare and I use way more than I realised too! I use african black soap as a cleanser (it's the absolute bomb, natural and not gel!), manuka honey as a mask is also amazing and apple cider vinegar as a spot treatment is probably the best thing I've ever used, and I've tried them all!
