Life Update || August 2016

Hello people of the internet! I thought I would do a little diary type post about August. If you didn't notice, I was absent on my blog for pretty much a month straight. August was the best and the busiest month I've had in a really long time.

Collage of me and Jessica

Well for starters my best friend finally came out. If you've been following me a while you'd know I have been going on about my friend (Jessica) coming out to Ireland since January. We've been best friends since we were eight. I moved to Ireland (when I was 14) so, we don't get to see each other a lot. The last time we actually saw each other was in France four years ago.

Jessica booked her flight in January so it honestly felt like we waited forever. Dan and I went up to Dublin and picked her up from the airport and the second she got here it felt like we picked up where we had left off four years ago. That's definitely the sign of true friendship.

While she was here we hung out in Dublin, celebrated my birthday, went to the beach, and sat around and drank a lot. That last part sounds so bad but this was the first time we could legally drink with each other. It had to be done.

Dropping her off at the airport was fucking (sorry not sorry) awful. For some reason, I thought it was going to be easier this time. And guess what guys! I was wrong. I felt like someone punched me in the chest. It might have been even worse because I was alone. I dropped her off and walked around the airport crying and then cried over my McDonald's breakfast. It sucked.

That being said, the two weeks she was here were the best two weeks ever. Dan and Jessica finally got to hang out properly. They got along so well. I can't even begin to describe how happy that makes me. Because at the end of the day, they're both my best friends.

Peter Mark Event
The Young Offenders Cork Premiere

So the day I took Jessica to the airport I also went to an event for Peter Mark. I honestly have no clue how I did it since we had to get up at 2 A.M to get a bus at 5 A.M to get to the airport at 8:30 A.M. then I was back on the bus for three hours. I finally got back to Cork at 3 P.M. and went to the event at 6:30 P.M. I'm not saying I'm Wonder Woman but uhm...

The event was pretty awesome. It was a launch for the new Rapture extensions. I swear they were the most natural looking things I have ever seen. I've also seen my share of terrible extensions. I have also worn my fair share of them. They're on the pricier side but basically you own them and just get them repositioned in 6-8 weeks. I learned a lot about Pureology as well. They're a salon brand and it's sold in Peter Mark salons. The main selling point to me is that they're vegan and sulfate free!

I made it home around 10 p.m. had a Chinese and finally went to bed. The next day Dan and I went to the Cork premiere of The Young Offenders. It's a Cork film. Based in Cork, made by people in Cork, lots of Cork humor, straight up just Cork. I cannot even begin to tell you how much I loved it. I've lived here for eight years now and The Young Offenders made me realize how much I love Cork!

I think that's everything. So in summary (TL;DR): My best friend came out, I turned 22, she left and it sucked, and I went to some events. I think I might try to do more of these posts. Like a monthly update kind of thing. Would you guys like that?

  1. Aww, I know how hard it is when your best friend leaves. I felt the same way when my best friend - we only get to see each other once a year if that. I know that's more than you get to see your friend. But it still sucks when you have to say goodbye. Still, I'm glad to hear you had a good time with her, and that August was a pretty good month. I really enjoy monthly update posts :) x www.aimeeraindropwrites.co.uk x

  4. Oh gosh, I felt bad but yet had a giggly throughout reading this! :)

In some ways, I'd love to live somewhere else and I go back and forth where I would live. I think one thing that would be very difficult for me is not being able to see my family, especially my parents and nana. I think they would respect the reasons why I had to leave, but bringing them over and then they go back home would probably kill me.

I didn't do much in August unfortunately besides work out what I was going to blog about in September. Now that it's here, I'm focusing what I want to do in October! Hope you have a good week and month! ♥

  5. I love watching films made locally to me. I especially love spotting the places I know, and when they've done some trickery to make one place seem as though it has a different interior or purpose to what it actually does, haha :-) I'm glad to hear you had a lovely month for the most part and I hope you had a wonderful birthday!

I have a bunch of friends I made during my a levels that make me feel like that, we didn't all see each other at the same time for 19 years and this year we changed that and all met up, it was the best and like your friend we picked up where we left off like yesterday it was amazing.

  7. Aw that was refreshing to read that even after four years it was like nothing changed between you and your best friend, it must have been so upsetting saying goodbye again, I know too well how that feels, my bestfriend recently moved to Italy, I went to visit her recently and leaving killed me! I enjoy reading these types of posts so I definitely think you should do more!
