March Memories || 2018

Hello people of the internet! I hope you're enjoying a wonderful long weekend. March has been such a strange month. I feel like it flew but it also lasted a lifetime. That might be down to the blizzard we had at the start of the month. Something I've wanted to do for a while on here is life updates. I used to do them a few years ago. But, it was mainly when I hadn't posted in a while and to explain why I did that. I just think it's a lovely way to chronical my life and to keep all of my memories in one place!

Beast From The East

March Memories || 2018

In case you've been living under a rock, or maybe just not in the UK or Ireland - we had a blizzard. Now, I'm from Chicago. When I was younger I was used to three feet of snow every winter and still having to walk to school in it. Over the past (nearly) 10 years of living in Ireland my body has absolutely adjusted to the mild climate that covers Ireland. We get pretty mild winters and we're lucky if we get a decent summer. And of course, it rains a lot. Last summer was intense. I can't remember ever being that warm. Which is kind of embarrassing if you think of the fact that I grew up with summers ranging anywhere between 85-110 degrees Fahrenheit on average? I think it was only 80 degrees at it's warmest last year and I was DYING!

Anyways, we all pretty much laughed off the idea of getting as much snow as they were predicting we would. Who knew the beast from the east would absolutely cover the country. It felt like it would never end. I forgot how much snow dampens all of the world's noise. It was beautifully quiet and calm. The whole country shut down. (If you live in a place where it snows regularly like I used to, that's hard to comprehend. But countries like Ireland aren't used to such an extreme.) We had some snowball fights and walks to the only place open - a petrol station. It was pretty spectacular but it reminded me of how happy I am that I don't live in Chicago anymore.

New Tattoo

March Memories || 2018

On International Women's Day this year I went and got a little tattoo. Rebels For Repeal was hosting a little tattoo flash sale in Electric Soul. They had a bunch of female artists tattooing as many of us as possible to help raise money for the Repeal The 8th movement. I've always wanted to take part in something like this and I've always wanted to do something specifically on International Women's Day. Repeal the 8th is such an important movement to me and it's even more important to kind of put your money where your mouth is for something like this.

I also would just like to add a little link to the voting register's website here. If you're in Ireland and you have the privilege to vote you absolutely should. Another big thing that happened this month is we actually got a date for the referendum. May 25th. Mark your calendars, make sure you can vote an spread the word. I'm more than happy to chat to anyone and everyone about Repealing the 8th. If you have any questions please message me or tweet me.

Patrick's Day

Ah, the international day of drinking. If I'm perfectly honest with you guys, I've never lasted the whole night on Paddy's day. That is until this year! When I drink I get sleepy and tend to be the first person to bow out. This year was amazing. Dan and I had some drinks on our own at his house then headed into town to meet up with friends. We started off in Deep South. My god, it was so crowded. But, there was a fantastic band playing called Pop Fiction. From what I can tell, they're a wedding band. And I would absolutely be booking them if I was getting married anytime soon. They played everything from Whitney to Britney! We ended our night in Chambers - aka Cork's ONLY Gay bar - it's become a staple of our night outs at this point. We sipped on Jager bombs for a few hours and danced with our friends before calling it a night. Honestly, couldn't have asked for a better night out with my boyfriend and our friends.

Playing with Makeup

I don't know if this happens to everyone else but, I constantly get stuck in makeup ruts. I mean it probably comes from having to do quick and simple makeup if I'm going anywhere. Just because I don't want to risk having to re-do my whole face if something doesn't turn out right. During March I spent a lot of time just playing with my makeup. I would just make time to fuck around and trying something new. It didn't matter how it turned out because I wasn't going anywhere. And, it was so nice. I forgot how creative and fun makeup could be. Even if being creative was just sticking from stars to my face with lipgloss.

Room Makeover

March Memories || 2018

I've been living in my current house for 6 months now. The whole time I've been living there I have had my room the exact same way even though I wasn't truly happy with it. The way I had my bed was all wrong and it just didn't feel like my room. I don't have any before and after pictures, unfortunately. That's because I decided to rearrange it on a whim. But, I can't even put into words how much more cosy it feels. It just feels like I've optimized my bedroom. It's so much more functional and comfy. The spring cleaning bug definitely bit me on the ass because I just needed to declutter my room. I'm totally one of those people who feels like if a room is cluttered, so is my brain. Anyone else?

Anyways, that was my month! It was the perfect mixture of calm and busy. I got to see my friends and go out, got a new tattoo, and experience the most snow I've seen in 10 years. March was good.
