How To Make A Tassel Garland

Hello people of the internet! Sorry I didn't post yesterday. I was feeling so run down and needed one day of proper rest. So, I decided to do some crafts. If you ask me there is no better way to spend a Sunday. I made a few tassel garlands last year and I loved them. This is definitely a post that I've wanted to do for a while. I see a lot of people selling these for a lot of money. Now you can make your own though! (Warning: This is a picture heavy post) Let me show you how!

Scissors, ribbons, washi tape, and tissue paper laying on a white background

You will need: Tissue paper (I bought mine from Tiger), scissors, washi tape, and ribbon.

Steps showing how to fold tissue paper.

1. Take your tissue paper ( I already cut one of the sheets from Tiger in half) and lay it flat.

2. Fold it in half width-wise.

3. Fold it width-wise again.

4. Take the end of the tissue paper (the end with all the loose ends) and cut 3/4 of the way up. Cut even sections until you have a lot of strips.

5. Unfold your tissue paper and it will look like the picture above. Then, unfold it again.

6. Roll the tissue paper into a log shape. You might have to adjust the loose strips while you do it. Just make sure they don't get caught.

7. Starting in the middle, twist the tissue paper tightly. Keep doing that until you reach the start of your tassels.

8. Take the twisted part of the tissue paper and fold it in half and make this teardrop shape.

9. Tape the two parts together tightly.

10. Make as many tassels as you want/need.

11. Thread your ribbon through the holes. You might need to add a bit more tape to the twisted parts of the tissue paper to help secure them to your ribbon.

There you have it! Your very own Pinterest-esque tassel garland. Once you get the hang of making the tassels they take no time at all to make. It's one of the easiest ways to decorate for the holidays. You can find tissue paper in pretty much every color these days. I've even used tinsel before! If you try this DIY please let me know!
